Dr. Ellert Nijenhuis, Ph.D. - THE NETHERLANDS
Dr
Ellert Nijenhuis is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist
and researcher. He currently works as a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist
at the Outpatient Department of the GGZ Drenthe, Assen
and a researcher at the Cats-Polm Institute for research
into chronic traumatization, Zeist. He runs a private
practice, provides supervision, runs workshops and writes.
Dr Nijenhuis has received numerous awards
including the Pierre Janet Writing Award 2000 of the
International Society for the Study of Dissociation
for the book Somatoform Dissociation: Phenomena, Measurement,
and Theoretical Issues and the Morton Prince Award for
Scientific Achievement 1998 of the International Society
for the Study of Dissociation for outstanding research
into the field of dissociation. He also received the
Literature Award Nederlands Vereniging voor Hypnose
1992 for the article "Leertherapie als kader en
hypnose als hulpmiddel bij de behandeling van ernstige
dissociatieve stoornissen" in the journal Trans.
Ellert is Chair of the Trauma Hospital
Committee which is dedicated to the assessment, treatment-planning
and evaluation of cases of chronic traumatization, as
well as hospital policy-development regarding the assessment
and treatment of these patients.
He has lectured and presented extensively
at conferences throughout Europe, the USA, Britain,
Canada, Russia and Turkey.
