Carolyn Quadrio
Carolyn
Quadrio is Associate Professor in Psychiatry at the
University of New South Wales. She practises in Psychotherapy
and Trauma and as a Forensic and Child and Family Psychiatrist.
She was formerly Director of Mental Health Services
with Corrections Health Service in New South Wales.
She is well known for her research into sexual abuse
in fiduciary relationships and has assessed hundreds
of cases of persons who were abused by teachers, clergy
and in institutional care as children. Her current interest
is in the role of childhood trauma in relationship to
adult psychiatric dysfunction and domestic violence
and its impact on children.
Prof Quadrio will present on the long-term
psychiatric sequelae of childhood abuse and trauma and
will conceptualise this in terms of the neurophysiological
and psychobiological impact on the developing brain
and psyche.
